2.8. Green Zones
- Green Zones are designated safe areas within the city where criminal activities and hostile actions are strictly prohibited. These zones are intended to provide a space for peaceful interactions and roleplay.

- Law enforcement officers may take necessary actions to enforce the law within Green Zones.
- Medical personnel may perform emergency medical procedures within Green Zones.
- Any roleplay situation that begins outside of a Green Zone may continue inside a Green Zone if a player flees into it, provided that no additional players are drawn into the situation within the Green Zone.
3. Roleplay Rules
VertexRP is a serious roleplay server. All players are expected to stay in character, respect server lore, and contribute to meaningful, realistic roleplay experiences. These rules help maintain immersion and ensure fair play.
3.1. Stay in Character (IC)
- RP begins as soon as you spawn in the server, whether you are alone, with a close group of friends or in public. Always stay in character—there is no such thing as "ON RP" or "OFF RP."
- Always stay in character during roleplay interactions. Do not break immersion by discussing real-life topics or making OOC (Out of Character) comments.
- If you need to communicate something OOC, use the designated OOC chat (e.g., /ooc) and keep it minimal.
- Do not use knowledge from external sources (such as Discord or streams) in roleplay unless your character has learned it in-game (see rule 3.2.).
- If a rule-break or issue occurs, continue roleplaying and report it after the situation has ended rather than breaking character.
- Using terms like "This is a game" or "I have to go" during RP scenarios is not allowed—handle everything in character.
3.2. No Metagaming
- Metagaming refers to using real-life or out-of-character (OOC) information to gain an unfair in-character (IC) advantage. This includes:
- Using streams, name tags, or external sources to identify players, locations, or events your character wouldn’t realistically know.
- Communicating IC details through OOC methods (e.g., Discord, DMs, voice chat outside the game).
- Calling for assistance from allies using OOC channels instead of in-game roleplay.
- Accidental metagaming (e.g., mistakenly using a character’s name without prior IC interaction) is discouraged but may be treated with leniency if unintentional. However, intentional metagaming to gain an unfair advantage is a serious offense and will result in stricter punishments.
- Live Stream Policy: While in the city, you are not permitted to appear in livestreams (e.g., Discord, Twitch, Facebook Gaming, YouTube) of other players who are also in the city.
- Always keep IC and OOC information separate to maintain fair and immersive roleplay.
3.3. No Powergaming
- Powergaming refers to roleplaying in a way that forces unfair, unrealistic, or overpowered actions, preventing other players from having a fair chance to respond. This includes:
- Forcing Outcomes: Not allowing players to react (e.g., "/me knocks you out instantly").
- Unrealistic Actions: Super strength, ignoring injuries, or driving normally after a major crash.
- Abusing Mechanics: Jumping for speed, tasering tires, modding for an advantage.
- Downed/Restrained Exploits: Using a phone/radio while downed or handcuffed.
- Appearance Abuse: Frequently changing PED to avoid consequences.
- Whitelisted Jobs: Must go off-duty when not performing job duties.
- Forceful Commands: Drag, handcuffs, etc., require proper roleplay.
- Making up treatments/injuries/changing scenarios for any RP to be presented as “evidence” for a legal case.
3.4. Fear for Life (FearRP)
- FearRP requires you to realistically value your character’s life in life-threatening situations. Failing to comply is considered FailRP and may lead to penalties.
- Your life is in direct danger when:
- A weapon is aimed at you at close range while on foot or on a bike.
- You are in a stalled or turned-off vehicle with a weapon pointed at you.You are in a stalled or turned-off vehicle with a weapon pointed at you.
- Two or more players have weapons aimed at you.
- An attacker lowers their weapon to type or roleplay, but you are still being threatened.
- Your life is not in direct danger when:
- You are in a moving vehicle and see an attacker approaching with a gun from a distance.
- You already have your firearm drawn and aimed before being attacked.
- The attacker’s view is obstructed, or they turn their back on you.
- As a victim in direct danger:
- You must comply with the attacker’s demands and show fear for your life.
- You cannot call the police, friends, or allies for help while under direct threat.
- You may attempt to escape or seek help only when no longer in immediate danger.
- Do not use death as an excuse to avoid consequences—survival should be your priority.
3.5. New Life Rule
- The New Life Rule (NLR) means that after dying and respawning, your character forgets all events leading up to their death within the last 15 minutes but retains long-term memories like jobs, friends, and past locations.
- When a New Life Starts:
- When you respawn or are executed.
- After a serious accident that results in death.
- You cannot force your own death to avoid RP consequences.
- NLR Restrictions:
- You cannot return to the scene of death or interact with involved players for at least 30 minutes.
- You cannot retrieve lost items from players involved in your death.
- You do not remember where your vehicle was if it was outside a garage.
- Whitelisted jobs may return to duty but must follow NLR in all other aspects.
- Exceptions to NLR:
- If you were revived by EMS, you do not follow NLR but must not engage in RP for 5 minutes (e.g., no fighting, fleeing, or driving away).
- NLR does not apply if you were killed due to RDM (Random Deathmatch) or disconnected unexpectedly.
- Your wanted level remains, even after respawning.
- Breaking NLR is considered FailRP and may result in penalties.
3.6. Combat Logging
- Combat Logging is the act of disconnecting or respawning from an active roleplay or combat scenario to avoid in-character consequences. This undermines the roleplay experience for others.
- Players must not disconnect during active roleplay or combat situations (e.g., being arrested, held hostage).
- If disconnected due to technical issues, players must reconnect and inform others to resume the roleplay.
- After successfully evading pursuit, players must wait at least 15 minutes before logging off.
- If a player dies and calls for help, they must also wait 15 minutes before logging off to allow assistance to arrive.
3.7. Combat Storing
- Combat Storing is storing items (money, vehicles, gear) during or right after a roleplay scenario to prevent others from getting them.
- Storing money, vehicles, illegal items, or gear while a roleplay situation is active is forbidden.
- Throwing away items to prevent others from obtaining them is also prohibited.
- Players can customize escape vehicles or change outfits, but only after successfully evading law enforcement.
- Players must wait for a sufficient amount of time and create distance from any pursuing law enforcement before engaging in any customization or change of appearance.
3.8. Random Deathmatch (RDM) / Vehicle Deathmatch (VDM)
- RDM/VDM refers to killing or running over another player without a valid reason or any roleplay interaction leading up to the incident.
- A prior interaction and a valid exchange must take place before you can kill another player.
- Using a vehicle as a shield is only allowed if the other player poses a threat and there has been prior interaction.
- Example scenario:
- Player A is sitting in their car, listening to music. Suddenly, Player B, who had previously threatened Player A, appears wielding a knife and tries to break the windshield. In an attempt to escape, Player A accelerates and inadvertently runs over Player B. Player A then calls 911 while fleeing the scene.
3.9. Miscellaneous
- Information that you hear through walls is not allowed to be used in roleplay (this is a game mechanics issue). You may only use information if your character is in the same room or hall with those other characters.
- Third party or any disturbance is not allowed in a pull over or when police are detaining a civilian.
- Police should be a highly feared person in crime/illegal related cases. For instances:
- Players should not go to PD to tease officers.
- Players should not commit silly crimes in front of Police.
- Players should not try one-on-one with police officers.
- If you are selling drugs, or doing any criminal activities and the police show up, your main goal should be to run away. Do not ever try to fight them.
- Players should not go to PD to tease officers.
- Players should not commit silly crimes in front of Police.
- Players should not try one-on-one with police officers.
- Before shooting at someone directly (while a person is hostage or not) we request you to do a warning shot that doesn’t cause harm to the victim. This might lead your hostage to comply with your terms.
- If you are hurt, you must RP your injuries and RP them as being hurt realistically.
- When you are downed during a scenario and require medical RP, you are officially out of that scenario. RP your injuries, go to a different cop call (for LEO), but you can’t return to the scenario that you were downed in.
- Do not enter high security areas such as Military Base and Bolingbroke Penitentiary.
- Do not “cop bait”, driving around the police station to get them to chase or general harassment of police is prohibited.
- Voices cannot be used against anybody if masked. If you recognize someone’s voice in a robbery, you cannot use the said voice to get a warrant for someone’s arrest or to retaliate against them. Only physical evidence can be used.
- Physical Body cameras, phone cameras and CCTV are the only footage that can be used against a person as evidence in-character. “Smart Glasses” and such do not count and cannot be used. Audio can still be recorded for phone calls.
4. Crime and Gangs
Illegal RP is a core part of VertexRP, but it must be handled with creativity, fairness, and realism. These rules exist to guide criminal activity, gang behavior, and conflict in a way that enriches roleplay without promoting toxicity or powergaming.
4.1. Kidnappings and Hostages
- All hostage-taking and player robbing scenarios must be initiated and conducted with high-quality, immersive roleplay. Random or unjustified actions are strictly prohibited.
- Civilians can be kidnapped when no law enforcement officers are online, provided there is a valid roleplay reason.
- Hostages cannot be held longer than 30 min unless the scenario progresses and a mutual agreement between all players involved through OOC chat.
- You cannot kidnap or rob the same player repeatedly, this can be classified as griefing.
- Hostages should be put in a seat or trunk. Hostages are not to be carried or escorted while in car or on motorcycle.
- Hostages must not be willing participants. They must be randomly selected and not friends who have agreed to be hostages. If caught, all players involved will be subject to punishment.
- EMS personnel cannot be taken hostage or kidnapped in any situation, although they can be threatened to leave.
- LEOs can be taken hostage or kidnapped without a minimum number of officers online, provided the scenario involves a well-planned and executed high-stakes roleplay.
- Uncuff or untie someone before leaving them, don’t leave players cuffed or tied.
- You are not allowed to kidnap a negotiating officer at the crime scene.
- If a hostage/kidnap situation has a police officer involved in any way, all the players holding the hostage may not kidnap or take another police officer as hostage for 3 OOC days.
4.2. Robberies and Heists
- All robberies and heists must have a clear and valid roleplay motivation. Random or unjustified actions are strictly prohibited.
- Only items and cash physically on a player's character can be stolen. Bank accounts are off-limits.
- Stealing every item from a player's inventory ("pocket wipes") is prohibited. Items taken must be realistic and align with the roleplay scenario.
- Players must be given a clear "hands up" or similar verbal command before being robbed.
- Robberies and heists must comply with server rules regarding the number of players involved.
- Vehicle use must be realistic and appropriate to the scenario.
- If hostages are involved, all rules from "Kidnappings and Hostages" (rule 4.1) must be followed.
- Interactions with law enforcement must be realistic.
- Code Reds should be an absolute last resort in missions where they are permitted. Players should never initiate a mission with the intention of triggering a Code Red for revenge roleplay against LEOs.

4.3. Gangs
- Gangs must follow a proper progression system. We highly encourage gangs to be unique and, if possible, use a custom name.
- Players may not have two characters in the same group/gang.
- The gang leader is responsible for managing the conduct of gang members.
- Players may not "gang jump." If a player leaves a gang, they must wait two weeks before joining another. After joining a new gang, they must remain in that gang for at least one month. All gang departures and recruitments must be justified with appropriate and high-quality roleplay.
- Players may not directly inform the police of an entire gang's activities. Personal disputes do not justify disrupting the roleplay of others. Respect the roleplay of other players. Providing the police with an entire gang's information can prevent legitimate investigations. It also disrupts player progress.
- If the police gather sufficient evidence to raid a gang, the gang will be placed on a one-week cooldown. Rebuilding can then begin.
- Temporary alliances are permitted within roleplay reasons. Permanent alliances with other gangs are prohibited. This is especially true for alliances intended to engage in conflict with law enforcement.
- Players may not take items they did not earn or work for when leaving a gang. Wiping out a gang's storage is unfair to other players.
- To prevent potential cheating during planned gang fights, a support ticket should be opened on Discord if in-game moderator supervision is desired.
- The cooldown period following a gang battle is two days.
- For the purpose of preventing character knowledge mixing, players who are in an official gang, may not take whitelist jobs on their second characters.
- Official gangs may consist of up to 12 members, with a maximum of 6 designated as core members and 6 as secondary members.
5. Business and Jobs
The economy of VertexRP is driven by players—whether running businesses, working jobs, or building careers. These rules define expectations for whitelisted roles, player-owned businesses, and civilian work, ensuring fair roleplay and balanced systems.
5.1. Business
- Businesses are IC (in-character) entities. Do not bring OOC issues into business operations.
- Business owners/managers must ensure their staff are trained and follow RP standards while on shift.
- All business activities (sales, events, hiring) must follow logical RP and avoid unrealistic behavior.
- Business vehicles and uniforms must be used appropriately and only while working.
- Prices must be reasonable and in line with server economy. Avoid price gouging or exploitative practices.
- If you leave the business location for reasons unrelated to business duties (e.g., personal errands or unrelated RP), you must go off duty. Exceptions include food delivery or similar RP-approved activities.
- Businesses may host public events but must inform staff and receive admin approval for large gatherings or street-blocking setups.
- Using a business to aid criminal activities (e.g., money laundering, hiding suspects) is only permitted if pre-approved by admins and properly roleplayed.
- Owners who are inactive for an extended period may lose business ownership.
- Businesses cannot deny service based on OOC drama or personal conflict.
- Business interiors should not be used for non-business RP (e.g., illegal meetings) unless justified and approved.
5.2. Side/Non-Whitelist Jobs
- Jobs like delivery, transit, taxi, fishing, etc., are available to all players and provide an accessible way to earn money and roleplay.
- Treat all jobs as legitimate RP opportunities. Avoid using them solely to grind money.
- Do not abuse job vehicles or use them for unrelated activities (e.g., using a garbage truck for a robbery getaway).
- If working a job like taxi or delivery, engage in RP with customers or NPCs. Don’t ignore roleplay potential.
- Do not AFK while performing job actions. Active participation is expected.
- Jobs must not be used to metagame, spy, or stalk other players.
- Players who repeatedly treat side jobs as OOC grinding tools may face consequences.
5.3. Police
- Use of force must always be justified and proportional. Do not randomly tase, shoot, or detain players without proper RP reasoning.
- Do not escalate situations unnecessarily. Always attempt to de-escalate before resorting to lethal force
- Corruption RP is absolute prohibited as of now.
- Police must wear full duty uniform and use appropriate police vehicles while on duty.
- Prioritize RP interactions over "winning." This means providing suspects a fair chance to talk, negotiate, or comply during scenes
- Do not target or harass specific players or gangs. Keep RP fair and unbiased.
- Always read Miranda rights when arresting suspects.
- High-speed pursuits should not be endless. If the suspect is clearly evading with no end in sight, consider safe de-escalation tactics (e.g., spike strips, air unit).
5.4. Emergency Medical Services
- EMS is a privileged, non-combat role. Your primary focus while on duty is providing high-quality EMS roleplay.
- Do not follow gangs, police, or civilians without a legitimate roleplay reason. Patrol your assigned area thoroughly.
- Do not abuse your EMS role to assist friends, or provide unfair advantages.
- Use EMS vehicles only while in full EMS uniform. Likewise, do not use personal vehicles while on duty.
- At crime scenes, consult with on-scene police officers before reviving or moving injured individuals. If no police are present, prioritize reviving fallen officers, describe the situation, and follow any instructions given.
- Revive patients primarily at the hospital, unless it is a critical case that your chief approves and RP allows for it.
- Do not enter active combat zones or areas where shots have been fired within the last 5 minutes. Request police assistance to secure the area.
- Report all gunshot injuries to the police immediately and make sure they are on the way before treating patients.
- EMS personnel are not permitted to carry weapons while on duty.
- Report all gunshot injuries to the police immediately and make sure they are on the way before treating patients.
